We are looking for people interested in state-of-the-art DevOps methods!

We are looking for potentially multiple HiWi candidates with experience in the development and operation of Docker containers in a Kubernetes cluster. In particular, this includes the administration and provisioning of software containers for various databases (e.g., relational, graph-based, document-oriented). Ideally, you also have some experience in Web technologies like REST and GraphQL, to connect local data sources to databases in the cluster, and to retrieve them as input for applications such as machine learning or machine control.

The work is embedded in our excellence cluster Internet of Production. You will help an interdisciplinary team of researchers to operate a Kubernetes cluster which is hosted on-premise at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen. One of our technical challenges is to cater for a massive amount of data, streaming in from a wide variety of Industry 4.0 appliances at various institutes at RWTH Aachen University. On the operational level, we expect a thorough documentation, as well as the preparation of training material (i.e., wiki pages, webinars, etc.).

We appreciate long-term commitment, therefore do not hesitate to apply as Bachelor or early-stage Master student. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop a short question to István or Stefan listed on the right (in German or English).

Applicants should ideally meet at least some of the following prerequisites:

  • experience in state-of-the-art software development
  • experience in Docker/Kubernetes
