Public final presentation of the lab "High-tech Entrepreneurship and New Media"
Public final presentation of the lab "High-tech Entrepreneurship and New Media" will take place on February 1st, 2010 at 6pm in Room 5052.
The Chair of Computer Science 5 invites representatives of the local press, regional entrepreneurs and all interested parties from university and public to join the final presentation of our lab course "Unternehmensgründung und Neue Medien" (High-tech Entrepreneurship and New Media).
Ten students from five different countries of origin across Europe and Asia participated in this course. Groups of five students each collaborated on concrete tasks in the area of Internet technologies and new media given by two start-up companies from Aachen and Cologne.
The first group developed an embedded application for data visualization and recording of sensor data in industrial production facilities for aiXtrusion GmbH in Walheim. Therefore, an Embedded-Box with PSP touchscreen was programmed in C++. Additionally, students realized forwarding of sensor data to a recording server via the Instant-Messaging protocol XMPP.
The second group realized the mobile learning game "QRally" in cooperation with Bureau42 GmbH from Cologne. The game enables new employees to explore their new company surroundings. The students designed the game concept and developed the game software for mobile clients (PDAs). Two teams are equipped with RFID-enabled PDAs and a map and then compete in finding hidden RFID-Tags and solve tasks assigned to each tag.
During the final presentation, both groups will present their projects in form of a talk and a subsequent software demonstration. The event will take place on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 6:00pm in room 5052 of the RWTH Aachen University Computer Science Center, Ahornstr. 55 (Entrance Mies-van-der-Rohe Str.)
