Former Informatik 5 doctoral graduate Dr. Martin Sedlmayr has accepted a position as Full Professor of Medical Informatics, Director of the Data Integration Center, and CIO responsible for the digitalization of Medicine at the Technical University of Dresden.

Prof. Matthias Jarke presented the Opening Keynote Address at the 17th International Conference on Group Decision and Negotiation (GDN 2017), held at Hohenheim Palace, Stuttgart/Germany, on August 15, 2017. In his talk, he showed how Fraunhofer’s recently developed Industrial Data Space concept can offer a data management infrastructure for the implementation of some theories of group decision and negotiation, and gave some early examples from the mobility and health sector.
KBSG Group at Informatik 5 wins fourth RoboCup logistics world championship in a row

Together with their partners from RWTH Aachen’s Informatics in Mechanical Engineering group (Prof. Sabina Jeschke) and FH Aachen (Prof. Alexander Ferrein), Prof. Lakemeyer’s team won the Logistics section of the 20th RoboCup World Championship, held in Nagoya/Japan. It was already the fourth year in a row that the team defended its title.
Informatik 5 paper on ACM Computing Reviews "Best of Computing 2016" List

The prestigious ACM Computing Reviews have selected the paper „View-based near real-time collaborative modeling for information systems engineering” by Petru Nicolaescu, Mario Rosenstengel, Michael Derntl, Ralf Klamma, and Matthias Jarke (Proc. 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2016), for their 21st Annual “Best of Computing” list which celebrates “Notable Books and Articles” of the year 2016. The paper had already received the CAiSE 2016 Best Paper Award in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge 2017: RWTH Students Achieve Second Place in Nationwide Final
After winning the university final as well as the regionwide final of this year’s Accenture Campus Innovation Challenge, the interdisciplinary student group of RWTH-Aachen University achieved the second place in the nationwide final among competing universities from German speaking countries and Luxembourg.

His presentation was titled "Data Spaces – Information Modeling for Data Sovereignty".

Fraunhofer ICT Dissertation Award for Katja Niemann

I5 graduate Dr. Katja Niemann was selected as one of the three winners of the Fraunhofer ICT Dissertation Award 2016, awarded for the best doctoral theses within the Information and Communication Technology group defended in 2015. With 17 Fraunhofer institutes and over 4000 employees, Fraunhofer ICT group is the largest applied IT research organization in Europe.
