Keynote on Inter-Organizational Data Sharing at ER 2019 in Salvador de Bahia/Brazil
Last updated on: 02. Dec 2019
Prof. Matthias Jarke presented a keynote titled “Inter-Organizational Data Sharing: From Goals to Policies to Code” jointly invited by several workshops of the 39th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2019) held in Salvador de Bahia, November 4, 2019. The presentation linked research in the DFG-funded Excellence Cluster “Internet of Production” to the concepts pursued in the Fraunhofer-led International Data Spaces initiative, aiming at an alliance-driven approach to data platform design not under control by single keystone players.

DFG Approves Excellence Cluster „Internet of Production” at RWTH Aachen University
Last updated on: 26. Sep 2018
Over the past year, researchers from Production Engineering, Material Sciences, Computer Science, and several related fields have prepared an interndisciplinary proposal for an Excellence Cluster within the German Federal Excellence University Competition. In the “Internet of Production” he researchers aim to extend the currently emerging Internet of Things to the much more complex field of digitalized production technology, combining mathematical optimization and simulation methods from the engineering science with real-time and broadly sourced data-driven management and machine learning methods from computer science. On September 27, 2018, the DFG German Research Agency announced that the project has been among the 57 national winners that will be funded for seven years with a total of close to € 50 mio. Professors Christian Brecher, Günther Schuh (both production technology), and Matthias Jarke (Informatik 5) serve as the speaker team of the research cluster. Overall, six of the 25 principal investigators are faculty of the Computer Science department of RWTH Aachen University.
