Dipl.-Ing. Georgios Toubekis is a doctoral researcher in the Aachen Center for Documentation and Conservation at the Dept.of Urbanization within the Faculty of Architecture of RWTH Aachen University. He received a diploma of Architecture from RWTH Aachen University and is member of ICOMOS Germany. He has been project coordinator in the projects of RWTHacdc in Afghanistan and conducted various field trips in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the documentation of UNESCO World Heritage sites. His actual research topic is the elaboration of methods for the sustainable implementation of preservation standards for cultural sites especially World Heritage Sites in developing countries. A special focus is being laid in the use of contemporary IT technologies from the field of applied information science in order to foster community involvement in cultural heritage projects.
