The goal of this bachelor thesis is the determine the current state of the art in peer review support systems.

Scholarly peer review is the process of evaluating the suitability of a scientific paper for publication in a venue, a conference, a journal or a magazine. Peer review is in the heart of the quality assurance of any scientific discipline such as computer science. Because of this, many criticism has been raised concerning all aspect of the peer review process, ranging from biases in the process to the actual execution of the process. The goal of this bachelor thesis is the determine the current state of the art in peer review support systems. These are tools supporting single aspects of the peer review process or even the whole process by modern information technology and advanced computational tools, e.g. for the selection of appropriate reviewers for a submitted manuscript. While many systems focus on the organizational aspects of peer reviewing, some systems also use computational tools for the review itself, e.g. by checking for plagiarism or by assessing the quality of the paper. The bachelor thesis is mostly desk research, but trying out different peer review support systems, creating a public databases for assessing those systems and setting up a web infrastructure for creating awareness and a community are also expected.
