Educational Escape Games for Mixed Reality

Thesis type
  • Bachelor
Status Open
Supervisor(s)

Based on our GAMR framework for gamification of mixed reality training we want to explore the design and implementation of mixed reality escape rooms in various educational settings.

Escape Games or Escape Rooms are physical adventure games in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy. They have become quite successful in secondary education, since classrooms offer good implementation possibilities. Mixed Reality is the merging of real and virtual environments where physical and digital objects interact in real time. Based on our GAMR framework for gamification of mixed reality training we want to explore the design and implementation of escape rooms in various educational settings. GAMR uses a Microsoft Hololens, the Mixed Reality Toolkit and the Unity Development Toolkit for developing state-of-the-art educational use cases. The GAMR framework is open source software and tested in a number of real world studies. We expect prospective students to be familiar with the development environment.
