The goal is to compare two smart grid interoperability protocols OpenADR and MIRABEL and develop a mapping model between them.

Electric utilities around the world have deployed different types of demand-response programs in order to manage customer demand of electricity in response to supply conditions. OpenADR and MIRABEL are two popular smart grid demand-response protocols, one started in America and the latter one in Europe. They are communication protocols which facilitate information exchange between the electricity service provider and the customer. But, having different protocols and data models makes interoperability between projects difficult. The objective of the thesis is mediation of the data and interaction models of the two systems with a focus to optimize electric mobility solutions.
