Within the German Cluster project CONTICI this thesis focuses on the requirements extraction from the open source communities.

Eclipse presents a free and open source software project dedicated to realization of the integrated development environment. The goal of this project is to provide comprehensive facilities to computer programmers for software development. The community around open source project presents a source for new ideas and requirements for the project. The idea of this thesis is to analyze the community generated content within community communication channels like mailing lists, forum, etc. Message processing in the combination with the community analysis can provide us valuable insights in the end-user world in general and help to identify the end-user needs in particular.

In this work the community generated data need to be text mined, semantically analyzed and classified. The analysis procedures have to be integrated as a core into user-friendly online available prototype, making the results of analysis publically accessible for the community members. Moreover, the end-user should receive a possibility to specify different parameters for the processing.


The thesis candidate should have knowledge on databases, Java, XML technologies and be interested in text mining
