Cooperation Systems

Fraunhofer-Institut für Angewandte Informationstechnik FIT

Effective networking and collaboration in virtual enterprises requires flexible support well attuned to emerging tasks and processes. Communities must be assisted in sharing experience and knowledge. Fraunhofer FIT has successfully designed, implemented, and operated important cooperation systems. Our consulting assignments range from requirements analysis to evaluation of groupware and knowledge management systems.

Our groupware solutions are based on open systems for cooperative document and project management in mobile, distributed teams. We support the introduction of knowledge management through a methodology for selecting, evaluating and implementing relevant processes. We target:

  • Developers and users of systems that support cooperative document and knowledge management, collaboration in distributed teams and emergent workflows;
  • Small and medium-sized organizations that need advice and systems that help them to organize their internal and external cooperation processes;
  • Operators of web portals – and their software providers – who are looking to extend the functionality of their systems.

Our topics:

Cooperation Support

Community portals, (mobile) communities and cooperation; Internet-based groupware; cooperative knowledge management; application service providing for cooperative work and virtual teams; rating and recommender systems; cooperative learning environments.
