Many interesting opportunities lie within the field of data sharing:
- Mobility: E.g., combining data from urban planners, public transport companies, CO2 reports, …
- Health: E.g., improving algorithms for early detection of cancer by training them on data not just from one, but multiple hospitals.
- … and many more domains.
While data is massively produced everywhere and everyday, currently, appropriate infrastructure to share such data and knowledge is lacking. Solutions must consider a variety of aspects, such as data integration, privacy, sovereignty, semantics, trustworthiness, and incentivization.
Our use case within the Cluster of Excellence project “Internet of Production” is in the domain of supply chain management. We research how to support companies in building resilient and sustainable supply chain partnerships. Our approach is to build a partner recommendation system through combining data and information from multiple stakeholders.
Tasks:
- Literature research on data sharing in business context, especially in supply chain management
- Development of a web application, possibly as an extension of an existing application
- Assisting in the process of writing, creating, and publishing research output
What we offer:
- Organize your working hours as you see fit
- Possibility of using the institute’s working spaces
- Gain experience in hands-on research as part of a large-scale, interdisciplinary research project
- Possibility of introducing your own ideas and fields of interest to your work
- Part of a young research/teaching group and community of institute-affiliated peers
- Possibility of insight into further ongoing research work and discussion of possible thesis topics
- Adept at breaking down complex matters into comprehensible structures
- Proficient at visualizing thought processes, storytelling
- Experience with web development frameworks, e.g., Node.js, React, Flask
- Preferrable: Experience with data sharing concepts (distributed analytics, data privacy, data sovereignty)
- Preferrable: Experience with business analytics tools, e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik
