We, the Data Stream Management and Analysis research group, are working on solutions to process data in near real-time in heterogeneous IoT environments between cloud and edge.
In the StreamFröst project, we are developing an interoperable system to support cross-platform data streaming, with support from our industry partner DB Systel. This system will support cross-organizational use cases in Smart Cities and Public Infrastructure and enable cross-organizational data stream processing.
We are looking for students to join our team of researchers as backend developers to help us build software that orchestrates workloads across platforms and solves challenges, for example regarding the modeling of data streams, placement of distributed workloads and data aggregation on the edge.
What we offer:
- 8-15h week (negotiable)
- Flexible working hours
- Work in a small, motivated team
- Modern technology stack (Kafka, Kubernetes, Flink, etc…)
- Possibility of contributing to publications and travelling to international conferences
- Possibility of attending training courses and networking events with industry partners (softwarecampus.de/partner)
- Possibility of a related thesis with us, later on
Your profile:
- Good skills in at least one programming language (for example: C++, Java, Rust, Python)
- Knowledge of Basic Software Project Management tools and agile workflows (Gitlab)
- Sound knowledge in databases and information systems
- Preferable: general understanding of data stream processing
(for example from our lecture on “Data Stream Management and Analysis”)
We are looking forward to your application! If you have any questions, contact us!
