Wolfgang Fahl received his Dipl.-Inf. in 1989 at RWTH Aachen.
He has been working in industry at Hewlett Packard, Böblingen Germany and Colorado Springs, USA and Dräger AG, Lübeck until 1996.
In 1996 he started as a senior consultant for Rösch Consulting, Kaarst.
From 1999 on he has been self-employed as the director of BITPlan GmbH, Willich. The focus is on software architecture and requirements engineering in projects and as a teacher.
In 2008 Wolfgang was the initiator of iSAQB e.V. a non profit organization that standardizes the curricula for software architects.
In 2008 he went for an industry sabbatical as a honorary research fellow in software engineering at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Auckland
In 2020 he came back to RWTH Aachen as a research assistant for the ConfIDent project with a 3/4 time position while making sure he can still run BITPlan GmbH 1/4 of his time.
