Every community application can be gamitfied. We can add points to community tasks, give away badges and send community members on quests. We can put community members on ranking lists and even share that on social media. However, the question remains if gamification is a successful service for every community. Many communities have doubts about replacing instrinsic motivation of their members with extrinsic motivation. If a service is successful or not in a community is a question of a community success awareness model.
This thesis researches community success awareness model from the perspective of gamification strategies. In the end it is not only the question if a community can be successful gamified and how this can be done but also if the community success awareness model can be gamified as well.
The thesis builds on results from the community information systems group. Result of the thesis will be included in our flagship projects CAE (Community Application Editor), a model driven approach to build community information systems and MoBSOS, the community awareness model.
