We want to detect overlapping communities inside a Mediabase using overlapping community detection algorithms. We will use WebOCD to achieve this end. In addition, we would need to pick and choose suitable overlapping community detection algorithms for networks of artifacts, media, services, members and communities inside the mediabase.
With that, we enable cross-media research and explore cross-community communication between various communities stored in the mediabase. In addition, we discuss how different communities compare to each other, and what different kinds of media do different communities use. The research results have impact on the design of community services in different media settings for a larger number of heterogeneous communities on the Web.
